Lorena Otes

Dance Instructor & Choreographer
Lorena began her training with Janece Graham, Tanya Pearson and Hassan Sheta. She later headed overseas to complete her professional training at London Contemporary Dance School, gaining a BA(Hons) in Contemporary Dance and Choreography.  

Lorena then worked as a freelance performer and choreographer for ten years in the UK. As part of this, she choreographed many works for the Resolution series staged at The Place Theatre, London including “Holt” and “Praytogen”.

She then returned to Australia in 2003 to pursue a teaching career in contemporary dance, and classical ballet. 

Most recently, Lorena’s teaching/choreography credits include having taught and choreographed for finalists in Youth America Grand Prix (USA) 2012, and finalists and semi-finalists in Sydney Eisteddfod Junior and Senior Scholarships 2011-13. Many of her former students have gone on to have successful dance careers in companies both at home, and abroad.

Lorena has also continued her ongoing passion for choreography. Credits include the staging of “Battlefield” in the 2010 season of Short, Sweet and Dance (she also performed in this piece).  She has also spent some time choreographing, performing, and teaching competition Ballroom Dance across Australia.
